Enduring Heroes (EH) pays permanent tribute to local Pasadena military heroes who gave their lives in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Wars of Terror and enables the City of Pasadena to build awareness for the Armed Services.

Enduring Heroes recognizes local heroes who were born and raised in the Greater San Gabriel Valley area, including Pasadena, Glendale, Altadena, La Canada-Flintridge, San Marino and South Pasadena – or attended high schools in those communities. The families of the 11 Enduring Heroes are “American Gold Star Families.” Each has a family member who was killed in action or from wounds sustained in combat. When we refer to “Gold Star Families,” we are referencing “American Gold Star Families.”
  • The EH Committee is led by a dedicated group of Pasadena-area residents and Gold Star families – all who saw the need to honor local sons and daughters who gave their lives to protect our Country
  • EH is supported by a strong and diverse group, including memorial artist, Christopher Slatoff, the Pasadena Community Foundation, countless donors, and Pasadena's City Council; all dedicated to preserving the memories of local warriors with this permanent and moving tribute
  • EH is also supported by engaged city leaders, including former Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard; current Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek; Pasadena City Council; Ara Maloyan, Director for Pasadena’s Public Works Department; & Steve Mermell, City Manager
  • EH is a fund of the Pasadena Community Foundation, which acts as a fiscal sponsor to provide a vehicle for the generous and broad donor support for the monument.
Enduring Heroes would not be possible without the unwavering support of Dr. Shelly Lowe, Chair, Enduring Heroes Memorial Committee & Rhonda Kozacik, Project Manager for the Enduring Heroes Memorial. Their leadership and vision ensured safe passage of this special Memorial.
